An attacking line up started well, and Marlow should have gone ahead in the first 5 minutes, only for Alex Land's shot to be blocked on the goal line by Paul Haye's foot.
Marlow were passing the ball around well, when against the run of play they went behind to a Woking short corner. The goal led to Woking getting a foot hold in the match. Moving the ball swiftly around the back and down Marlow's flanks, they went on to score again just before half time. A slick move down the right, led to a cross and fine finish past a stranded Ross Bone in goal.
Having come from two goals behind the previous week, Marlow were still confident of getting a positive result as they moved into the second half. However a succession of green cards really put the brakes on as the looked to apply pressure on the Woking goal.
A third goal for Woking on 54 minutes finally brought a reaction from the Marlow players as they proceeded to convert a short corner with a reaction finish from Patrick Staal in front of the goalkeeper on the rebound. Pressing higher up the pitch Marlow looked to finish the game strongly. Finding the right touches in the final third continued to be their frustration though, and well worked moves broke down at the crucial moment.
A further goal for Woking led to Chappell taking off the Marlow keeper. With Charlie Olley now doing the kicking back roll, Marlow threw everything forward. It was to no avail though as Woking broke quickly from the top of their D. This led to their fifth goal following a foot on the line and a penalty flick.
Overall it was a disappointing day for Marlow, who will go into next weekends match against Weet Hampsted looking for another three points and a chance to build momentum.
