Marlow secured a stunning 5-0 victory to move joint top of the league alongside Maidenhead, who suffered a surprise loss to Eastcote.
A strategic masterstroke saw last week's hat-trick hero, Toby, moved to right back, however, amazingly, it worked as Alfred stepped up and stole the show.
The game began with Marlow pushing forward aggressively, setting the stage for an entertaining match. Though Sonning's efforts meant there were constant turnovers in midfield, preventing Marlow from creating clear opportunities.
Midway through the first half, the "Wizard of Oz" worked his magic, with Frosty darting across the goal to the near post, spotting his run, he flew the ball in where Frosty flicked the ball past the keeper to score the first goal. The mantra "Feed the Frost, and he will score" rang true once again.
The match remained evenly contested, but Alfred, now confident and heavily involved, began to shine. He capitalised on numerous attacking plays and got 2 goals his performance deserved taking Marlow into a commanding 3-0 lead.
An excellent team goal, from defence to attack, saw Chris pick up the ball in his own D from a Sonning short corner, drive to the byline, with Frosty picking it up and setting Robbo free, he drove forward, and after some quick interchanges with Alfie, the ball found Frosty, who scored his second and Marlow's fourth.
Marlow picked up the second half in a similar vein. Their dominance was so strong that goalkeeper Jack, had little to do, even walking to a shop to buy a packet of jellybabies without missing any action, for that matter, he didn’t even touch the ball in the entire second half.
Despite Marlow's control and numerous short corners, it took until midway through the half for Alfred to complete his hat-trick. Again great wing play, and good stick skills to score. What a great performance from him.
Josh showcased his tight skills, creating openings, while Frosty, had as much luck as Inspector Clouseau does in finding thefts, and couldn’t find his hatrick.
Marlow's defence remained solid, with Barry going from the bizarre to brilliant, first letting the ball slip under his stick, to then stopping a flicked ball in the air on the byline. Unbelievable. David launched multiple attacks from the back, driving the team forward.
Despite not improving their goal difference further, Marlow's all-round performance was great.
Alfred took home the match ball and the Man of the Match award, celebrating wildly with two cans of Coke. This victory sets up an intriguing clash with Wycombe, who are currently fourth. The management team, assisted by George, will reflect on this performance and decide Alfred's defensive role for the next match
