Marlow 5- 3 Windsor

Talk about making an impact, Toby transformed an evenly-balanced game and took home the points.

Both Marlow and Windsor created good chances from the beginning, whilst defending firmly.

Toby, after warming up on the sideline with a very debatable cup of coffee, smelling like brandy, strolled onto the pitch. Moments later, he put Marlow ahead with a fantastic strike, flicking the ball up, and then volleying past the keeper on the reverse.

Just when Marlow thought they could push forward, Windsor, to their credit, created openings. They got their first, Paul Trice gave us the lead, before Windsor drew level before half time.

In the second half, after Toby warmed up by doing his Bee Gees impression on the sideline, he again made a huge impact. Creating space for the ball to be rolled into the D, with just the keeper to beat, he slotted the ball into the bottom corner. The crowd went wild, well the three people who got lost and thought they were watching football but ended up watching a game of hockey.

To ensure Toby took the spotlight, he expertly spotted another chance, and from the middle of the goal gained his hat trick. His vision to top it rather than hitting it flat was amazing and the ball bounced over the despairing keeper.

Windsor hit back and with some confusion in the defence made it 4-3 to Marlow.

However, with short corner routine, 112, Oz, altered the plan, not bothering to pass to anyone, but neatly placed the ball into the corner. 5-3 to Marlow. Despite strong pressure from Windsor, and their Swedish guy shouting and moaning, Marlow stayed strong, with Toby basking in the glory. This performance continues to push Marlow up the table, with another local derby next week with Sonning.

It was a good all-around performance, with skill throughout the squad. The management team praised their inspired move to push Toby upfront. Unfortunately both of Toby’s sons turned up too late to see the goals, but Toby took great delight in reliving the experience for them, last count was about 82 times. Toby headed off to Stringfellows to enjoy his fantastic day.

Breaking news

The Marlow Herarld offers strong apologies and corrections to last week's report. Following reviews and in-depth analysis by Jedders, a renowned technical expert (not sure on what though), it was concluded that the two goals awarded to Paul were incorrect. The first goal has now been awarded to Oz, as he had an inspired moment and drove the ball against Paul's stick, while Paul was just standing there thinking about his shopping. The second goal was where Matt risked his life, and potential to have children, by standing in front of the keeper for Paul to knock the ball into the goal. The records have been amended and scrutiny on Paul’s future claims for goals.
