Ouch, two nil loss
Marlow came completely unstuck against Eastcote, losing two nil in a game that they should’ve dominated.
With superior quality, size of squad, as well as the opposition being down nine men in the first half, Marlow could still not get the goals required to take the game away from Eastcote.
As Graeme Souness constantly states, it’s about the outcome that matters, regardless of what is achieved before.
Marlow were very strong in the first half , dictating play but were left wanting with the final ball into the D. When the chances did come, Eastcote’s keeper was in great form. All level at half time.
With Eastcote’s confidence enhanced due to a clean sheet in the first half despite being dominated, they upped their efforts and started playing flowing hockey, with controlled ball procession, resulting in 2 goals, which on another day Marlow would have hoped to have defended better.
Marlow were limited to quick breakaways, all whilst under pressure, and couldn’t get back into the game. With the talent on show, it was a real shame that Marlow couldn’t deliver as expected.
Definitely going to forget this one and move on. Marlow play table topping Yateley away next Saturday and with a refreshed mindset, expect to return to the level of previous weeks.
