Marlow 1sts had another long trip to Swansea and started well, creating opportunities which they were unable to convert. Swansea capitalized on an early opportunity and dispatched the ball past keeper Alys Ramm with a powerful strike. Marlow had a great opportunity in the second quarter when Rachel Clarke put a great ball into the circle which the Swansea keeper got a stick to before the Marlow strikers could score. Marlow’s equalizer came minutes before halftime when Lauren Hilditch deflected the ball over the keeper at a penalty cor
Swansea mounted pressure on the Marlow defence who coped well. Marlow continued to look dangerous in attack with some great pieces of skill and determination from the midfield, especially Martha Goodridge who caused numerous problems for the Swansea defence. Both sides were searching for the winner but ran out of time leaving the score 1-1.
The Women's 2s were away against Oxford 2 and put in a fantastic team performance running out 3 -0 winners. Kerri Smith opened the scoring midway through the first half. Her smart turn created space to fire a powerful shot into the bottom left corner. Izzy Fuggle doubled Marlow's lead when she reacted quickest to the loose ball when the opposition goalie parried Jazzy Elsden's flicked effort. Oxford started the second half with increased intent but couldn't convert their corner and were caught out by a swift Marlow counter. Slick passing through midfield and then into space on the right. Fuggle ran into the D and smashed a shot from an angle into the roof of the net. With 10 minutes remaining, Marlow's keeper harshly received a yellow card and the Reds played the next five minutes with just the 10 outfield players. They adapted brilliantly, Oxford unable to fashion a shot despite the advantage. Marlow saw out the remaining minutes and the 3 points took them to second in the league and overtaking Oxford in the process.

Marlow's first team might have been expected to win easily over Henley, who had failed to gain a single point so far.
However, it didn't work out that way despite having almost constant possession and their 2-0 victory was hard-earned.
Henley presented a solid defence and Marlow found it difficult to turn their pressure into goals. After 20 minutes Josh
Morgans, who had been Marlow's main attacking threat, managed to score from a narrow-angle. With a goal in the bag, Marlow
continued to attack but became increasingly frustrated as goals continued to elude them and it stayed that way for the rest of
the game until Cameron Beazley-Clarke deflected the ball into the goal in the last minute.
Henley deserve every credit for keeping the score down and Marlow were left feeling that they needed to be more creative
in making their attacking flair count in this kind of game.
On Saturday they are at home to Basingstoke at 1.15
Marlow 2nds were away against Oxford Hawks 3 ,finding themselves in an unfamiliar position in the league table on the back of 4 straight defeats.
However, the team was confident with the addition of the experienced but ever-youthful Matt Ashton. Marlow started the game well and asserted their
style of play on the game which Hawks couldn’t manage. Marlow had many chances but couldn’t manage to take the lead. As so often this season Marlow played the better hockey and dominated the game but still went 1-0 down at the break after a well-taken reverse stick goal from Hawks. Marlow came out firing in the second half and continued to dominate the game and were able to up the pace and pressure but still failed to make it count until they were able to break into the D via Sam Phillips. Playing a number of quick passes along the by-line with Dan Field. The ball was squared past the goalkeeper to top scorer Sam Nicholson to tap home into an empty net. Minutes later the Hawks defence went missing and let Ollie Harvey stroll into the D uncontested. With Dan Field left unmarked in front of the keeper there was only going to be one outcome. Marlow took their lead into the final minutes surviving some late pressure to earn a well-deserved win.
The result moved Marlow off the bottom of the league table and into 8th place with a trip to newly promoted Sonning next weekend.
