Having witnessed the marginal gains, that can be made in sports such as rowing, we are promoting a new club wide philosophy which could make a huge impact on our performance levels.
Every player involved in the Performance Group training sessions will be expected to bring a foam roller & a golf ball to every training session and match day.
It is hoped that as good habits are embedded at the top end of the club, the philosophy will filter down through the rest of the senior section and into the juniors.
Rollers can help us prepare and recover our bodies so much better than our current methods. The self treatment is the equivalent of a rub down, before and after training & games. It will hopefully, help prevent a lot of soft tissue injuries and can also be used to speed up rehabilitation of any niggles.
Golf Balls can be used as a DIY reflexology tool, giving a whole range of physiological benefits which could help improve performance.
We'll also be using activation points to really get the best out of our bodies.
Any old golf ball will do, but we recommend 'The Grid' roller made by Trigger Point (the one pictured). This can be purchased on line for around £36.99 or if you are on more of a budget, then there are plenty of cheaper (but not quite as good) options based on this model, for around £10. The ones with a stiff hollow core are much better than the 100% foam ones.
